Children and Young People’s Physical Health

These resources are for Tower Hamlets GP practices

Key Information

Dr Julia Moody, Clinical Lead for Children and Young People in Tower Hamlets and GP at Chrisp Street:

Dear Primary Care Colleagues,

Welcome to the new Children and Young People Physical Health intranet page. We’ve made it easier to use and will be developing the page. We’d be keen to hear from you about its usability and whether it has the right resources. Please get in touch!

A key area of focus is the Respiratory Syncytial Virus. It’s been suppressed due to social distancing and we’re expecting a surge starting in August with a peak in November. The virus generally results in the sniffles, but for babies and toddlers- there is a higher likelihood of acute illness. 3-5 in 100 will likely need hospital care and we need to make sure that we provide the best care in the community to support Tower Hamlets. For helpful resources- see the Bronchiolitis/RSV pathway, the Bronchiolitis Advice Sheet and the slides from the education session that took place on 17th August.

Finally, we’ve set up a GP Clinic in the Spotlight Youth Centre in Poplar- we call it Health Spot. It aims to tackle unmet need in vulnerable young people and provide youth worker support for those who need it. Click here to see a video of how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxxVhBYgJps. Refer by emailing- Thgpcg.spotlight@nhs.net or patients can self-refer by attending Spotlight. The clinic is on Tuesday afternoons from 4pm.

Best wishes,

Julia
