Criteria: The Perinatal Parent Infant Mental Health Service offers treatment and specialist advice for clients who experience current or have had previous moderate to severe mental health difficulties

Referral Information:

Referrals will be accepted from any professional – most of our referrals come from social workers, GPs, health visitors, midwives, other mental health services, obstetricians, other perinatal services. Self-referrals will also be accepted. The service accepts antenatal referrals directly

We only typed referrals will be accepted. All handwritten referrals will be rejected as handwriting can be misread, leading to incorrect clinical decisions.

If you need advice, guidance, or have a query regarding a patient or referral, you can speak to a duty clinician weekday afternoon between 12:30 and 16:15 by calling 0300 555 1119 where an administrator will take some basic details, and then connect you to a duty clinician.

Whipps Cross Emergency Gynaecology Unit (EGU)

Criteria :Provides emergency care for women in early pregnancy (up to 17 weeks) and emergency care for acute gynaecological problems. For pain or bleeding , suspected ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy outside of the womb), severe pelvic pain and you are not pregnant

Referral Information:

The appointments are allocated from A&E, GPs or other healthcare providers. You will be given an appointment either on the day or within a few days.

You can self-refer if you’ve had:

  • two previous miscarriages
  • a previous ectopic pregnancy
  • a previous molar pregnancy

Homerton Hospital Early Pregnancy Unit – Integrated referral form and email

The Early Pregnancy Service is a specialist unit that manages early pregnancy problems such as vaginal bleeding and abdominal pain. We see women in the first 18 weeks of pregnancy only.

St Bartholomew’s Hospital accepts referrals from GPs, Newham Hospital and Whipps Cross Hospital for couples and individuals seeking further investigations or treatment for infertility. If you are a patient at Newham or Whipps Cross Hospital, and you require further fertility treatment, you will be referred to St Bartholomew’s Centre for Reproductive Medicine.

Referral Information: Patients can be referred via the electronic referrals system (ERS) and tertiary care providers

Homerton Fertility Centre

Fertility service is based at Homerton University Hospital. Centre Offers personalised care and fertility treatments to families and individuals.

Referral criteria:

BMI: must be within 19–30 for the biological mother at the time of referral and the start of each treatment. This will be assessed at each visit

Smoking status: the biological mother and partner must be non-smokers at the time of referral and the start of each treatment and throughout the treatment process.

Semen Analysis

Homerton Semen Analysis

Diagnostic Semen Analysis is performed only after Fertility receives a referral (from GP or other fertility clinic) and a confirmed appointment is provided from the Homerton Fertility Laboratory. Samples brought in without an appointment will not be accepted or analysed.
