Use the ‘Wait Well, Stay Well’ website to help patients prepare for hospital treatment or appointment

Posted on:

While everyone in the NHS in NEL is working hard to get patients seen as quickly as possible, we know that for a patient, waiting for hospital treatment or an appointment it can be a difficult and stressful time.  This is especially true if the patient’s condition is causing pain or stopping them carrying out day-to-day activities and this often leads patients to raise these issues with the GP or seek information on their likely treatment or appointment date.

We have developed a website in NEL to help people to manage their own health and wellbeing by providing useful information and links to local and national resources.  It is aimed at people waiting for hospital treatment to support them while they are waiting, help them to manage their condition and stay healthy whilst they wait.

We are encouraging practices to put this link on practice websites and publicise the website within the practice, encouraging patients to use it.

The website includes information on:

o          How to maintain your physical health

o          How to look after your mental health

o          Being prepared for surgery

o          Links to routine waiting time information by specialty and Trust

o          Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The website is updated regularly to help keep it current.

If GPs or Practices would like any further information, please contact Andrew Lappin on 07950 476 714 or email a.lappin@nhs.net

This website is for healthcare professions only.

It is not for public use.
