On Sunday, 17 May 2026, WHO declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern for a new outbreak of Ebola virus disease (EBOD) caused by Bundibugyo virus in the DRC and Uganda. The purpose of this briefing note is to detail the clinical and public health response.
