ELFT are raising awareness of eating disorders within the South Asian communities

Posted on:

Though we know that eating disorders can affect people from any background, some people are more likely to get support than others. In the East London Community Disordered Eating service people from a South Asian background have told them that they face particular barriers in getting help for disordered eating and that it would be helpful to have access to more information in the community to help raise awareness and challenge stereotypes.

This year, Eating Disorder Awareness Week – coincides with the beginning of the month of Ramadan. This can be a particularly difficult time for people with eating disorders and their loved ones.

A list of resources has been created with further information about eating disorders, personal experiences, and Ramadan – these will be available on the ELFT website and can also be accessed via the QR code on the flyer.

Please note that these services supports people who live in or have a GP in Newham, Tower Hamlets and City & Hackney.

Please download and display their flyer in your surgery.
