Blood test results affected due to sample stability due to extreme weather last week 22-26 June 2026

Posted on:

Dear Colleagues,

Please be advised that the extremely hot weather conditions experienced on 22–26 June 2026 may have affected the stability of certain analytes during sample transport. Exposure to elevated temperatures can impact sample integrity and may lead to spurious increases in phosphate and falsely low potassium (K) levels.

If any results appear inconsistent with the clinical picture, please consider a repeat sample. Temperatures are expected to rise again next week. Although conditions are not forecast to be as extreme as last week and we do not anticipate significant issues, please remain vigilant. If you observe raised phosphate or low potassium results that do not correlate clinically, please contact us to discuss or arrange a repeat test.
