MSK Single Point of Access & Patient Choice – Reminder for Redbridge, Havering and Barking & Dagenham Practices
This communication is for GP practices in Redbridge, Havering and Barking & Dagenham. As a reminder, the MSK Single Point of Access (SPoA) is now live. To ensure patients are referred through the agreed MSK pathways, all referrals for the following services must be submitted via the SPoA:
- Community Physiotherapy
- Orthopaedics
- Pain Management
- Neurosurgery
Referral routes
Please use the following referral services within e-RS:
- Community Physiotherapy: Primary Care MSK Team (PCMT)-SPA-Musculoskeletal Therapies RAS-King George Hospital RF4
- ESP, Orthopaedics, Pain Management and Neurosurgery: MSK Secondary Care SPA Orthopaedics, Pain and Spine RAS-King George Hospital-RF4-BHRUT
All referrals should be submitted using Rego.
Patient Choice
Patient Choice remains fully embedded within the MSK pathway. Where clinical triage determines that secondary care is the most appropriate option, patients will be supported to choose their preferred provider. This may include NHS providers both within and outside of North East London, as well as independent sector providers, depending on the patient’s preference and clinical needs.
To support consistent pathway management, please do not refer patients directly to providers outside of North East London or to independent sector providers . All referrals should be submitted via the MSK SPoA, which will ensure patients are clinically triaged and, where appropriate, referred onwards to their chosen provider. This helps maintain a consistent referral process, supports equitable access to services, and avoids unnecessary demand and pressure on providers outside of North East London.
Thank you for your continued support in implementing the MSK Single Point of Access.
