Free environmental sustainability courses taking place in March 2026

As part of the NHS North East London Integrated Care System environmental sustainability and net zero journey, the BHRUT ISEP Learning Hub are offering all staff access to continuing professional development (CPD) courses. These vary in length from a concise environmental awareness session aimed at non-environmental specialists, to an in depth offer for people with sustainability in their current roles or ambitions. 

They are hosted on MS Teams and delivered by Sustainability Professionals from Barking, Havering, and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT), Barts Health NHS Trust, NELFT and NHS North East London.

The courses are accredited by the Institute of Environmental and Sustainability Professionals (ISEP). All staff from the health and care system in north east London are eligible for a free place.

Courses and dates:

  • Introduction to Net Zero – Friday 27 February 2026, 9:30 – 12:45. LAST FEW PLACES

The Introduction to Net Zero course is designed by the Institute of Sustainability & Environmental Professionals (ISEP) to give clear, consistent guidance on best practice in response to the climate crisis1. It provides a baseline and operational overview of environmental sustainability as it affects specific industries and work areas.

  • Environmental Skills for the Workforce – Monday 2 March 9:00 – 17:00 (full details attached)

This course is perfect for those working in any job role across all sectors, to ensure that environmental sustainability is embedded into all job roles of a company.

The course covers the main environmental risks and opportunities facing organisations; the importance of resource efficiency; the impacts of pollution, prevention, control and legislation; the impact of transport; and knowing how employees can support environmental sustainability.

  • Environmental Sustainability Skills for Managers – Monday 23 March and Friday 27 March. Both 9:00 – 17:00 (full details attached)

The course aims to provide supervisors and managers with a strategic and operational overview of environmental sustainability as it affects their specific industry and work area.

The course covers the understanding of the strategic opportunities and constraints that environmental sustainability presents organisations; the importance of resource efficiency; the impact of environmental sustainability across the value chain; the impacts of pollution, prevention, control and environmental legislation in organisations; and how employees support environmental sustainability.
