New LIS: CEG Cancer Diagnosis Audit Tool (CDAT)

Posted on:

The North East London Cancer Alliance (NELCA) is offering a local incentive scheme to practices completing the CEG Cancer Diagnosis Audit Tool (CDAT) for newly diagnosed cancers in Q1 and Q2 of 2024/25. An incentive of £25 for each patient will be paid to practices following successful completion of the audit (once the initiative concludes).

Undertaking this audit supports practice and PCN action plans for improvement and will also enable a collective analysis to be undertaken by the Cancer Alliance to support local early diagnosis plans.

The CEG CDAT will:

  • support reflection, learning and targeted quality improvement,
  • enable primary care to evidence and share existing good practice, and
  • strengthen local cancer intelligence.

The Cancer Diagnosis Audit Tool has been really helpful in spotting weaknesses in our processes and driving positive change. Unlike most audits, it leads to real improvements that have made care better for our patients and helped us grow as clinicians.Dr. Mustafa, Local GP

We have been using the cancer audit tool for few years in my practice and it has been an extremely helpful tool for 2 main reasons. It has given us the opportunity in a structured way to review the journey of people getting this dreadful diagnosis and reflect on clinical (what about this slightly raised ALP anyone?) and non-clinical aspects (e.g. use of interpreters, continuity) of their care with the hope to challenge ourselves and improve the service we provide. We also had the opportunity to review aspects of hospital care (delays or success stories etc) and share learning with our hospital colleagues. We took the active decision to reflect instead of being overrun by pessimism. These audits have been one of the most educative exercises for my team. Dr Symniakou, Local GP
