February 2024 - The North East London Formulary & Pathways Group (NEL FPG) approved the use of opicapone for treatment of Parkinson's disease as part of NEL formulary harmonisation. This medicine should only be prescribed in primary care following recommendation by a specialist. Opicapone is recommended as an alternative catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) inhibitor for patients where use of entecapone is inappropriate, ineffective or not tolerated. |

July 2022 - The JPG agreed to approve rufinamide for the treatment of Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (licensed) and pharmaco-resistant focal epilepsy in exceptional cases (unlicensed). This would be restricted for initiation by/or under the recommendation of a consultant epileptologist or specialist epilepsy nurse. Patients should only be transferred to GP for prescribing once they are on a stable dose and tolerating treatment. |
