Sevikar HCT® (olmesartan with amlodipine and hydrochlorthiazide) can be prescribed for essential hypertension, provided that it is initiated by a specialist in secondary care for the following cohorts of patients who are non-compliant with triple therapy for hypertension prescribed as individual drug components:

  • Those who find it difficult to/or don’t like multiple tablets and prefer to take a single tablet instead.
  • Those for whom the cost of paying multiple prescription items for their hypertension treatment, would prevent them from having their anti-hypertensives dispensed.

Prescribing can be continued in primary care following specialist initiation once maintenance dose has been achieved.
