Upcoming service closure – Tavi Service in City and Hackney
Dear colleagues,
Please be advised that the contract for the City and Hackney Primary Care Psychotherapy Consultation Service (PCPCS), commonly referred to as the ‘Tavi Service in City and Hackney’, will be coming to an end on Monday 31 March 2025.
Action:
All colleagues are advised that the service is no longer accepting new referrals. This will allow the service to use the remaining six months to wind down the exiting patient list before closure.
We are currently working with the remaining services in the City and Hackney Psychological Therapies and Wellbeing Alliance (PTWA) to develop interim arrangement for referrals. We will notify colleagues in the coming weeks.
As commissioners of the service and as part of our Integrated Care Strategy, our goal is to understand and act upon local priorities for mental health, through data and engagement and provide services that meet the needs of local residents.
The service, which is delivered by the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, was originally established to treat patients with Medically Unexplained Symptoms (MUS). However, we plan to redesign and commission (with input from clinicians and local people) a mental health service with wider scope that addresses the gaps in primary care mental health. With a more holistic and multidisciplinary offer, our aim is to meet a greater range of need and numbers of patients, particularly those identified as high cost to our local system, helping it to run more efficiently.
We will be attending a GP Forum in autumn to discuss this further and will work closely with NEL primary care team, the Psychological Therapies and Wellbeing Alliance and the Confederation.
The PCPCS (Tavi) service will now be implementing a wind-down plan which will include communication to existing patients. We will keep you updated and involved in this process including managing any concerns as this is rolled out.
In the meantime, should you have any queries please direct them to us via email to k.vijayatharan2@nhs.net or rhiannon.england@nhs.net.
Best wishes
Rhiannon and Karthika
