Tower Hamlets: New drop-in clinic providing health screening for people experiencing homelessness

Posted on:

NHS England’s Hepatitis C Elimination programme has recently commissioned Transformation Partners in Health and Care (TPHC) to deliver a small pilot project across London to improve access to Hepatitis C (HCV) testing and treatment through primary care for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. This is part of the programmes long-term objective of eliminating HCV by 2025 and improving health outcomes.

As part of this pilot, a drop-in clinic was launched on Wednesday 24 April 2024 at Health E1 Homeless Medical Centre, 9/11 Brick Lane, London E1 6PU offering bloodborne virus testing for HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C, as well as harm minimisation interventions and liver screening where possible. The clinic will initially operate twice a month on Wednesdays between 2pm and 5pm and is specifically for people currently experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The next clinic dates are on 5 June, 19 June and 3 July.
