Serious Shortage Protocols for Cefalexin – ending

Please note that this is being sent on behalf of DHSC.

As supplies have now resumed, the Serious Shortage Protocols SSP077 (Cefalexin 125mg/5ml oral suspension sugar free) and SSP078 (Cefalexin 250mg/5ml oral suspension sugar free) are not being extended again and will end on Friday 28 November 2025.

The SSPs are available to view onthe NHS Business Service Authority (BSA)’s dedicated SSP web page.
