School aged immunisation request by patients
London Region Immunisation Team would like to remind Practices that where parents/young people request an immunisation that is usually delivered by the school aged immunisation provider, where practices have accepted the CQRS offer, a vaccination should be given. Please note the table below:
Vaccination programme | Age given at school | Available on CQRS | Age Practice may provide the vaccine |
HPV, boys and girls | Year 8 (ie 12-13yrs) | Yes | 14-24+364 days |
Men ACWY | Year 9 (ie 13-14yrs) | Yes | 14-24+364 days |
Td/IPV | Year 9 (ie 13-14yrs) | Yes listed as Childhood Immunisations Hexavalent (6-in-1) vaccination programme 2022/25 in CQRS | 10 years and over |
MMR | Opportunistic catch up for children in Reception to Year 12 | Yes | Any aged child or young person to complete 2 doses |
Where a parent requests a vaccination listed above for a child who does not meet the age at which practices are able to vaccinate, then, to avoid the child being lost to follow up, we request that you contact the local school aged immunisation provider and provide them with the name, NHS number and contact details of the child and they will invite the young person for a vaccination as part of their regular catch up activities. Please then advise the parent/young person that they will be contacted by the school aged immunisation provider.
Please also advise your local school aged provider of vaccinations you have given for a child still at school.
The provider contact details are listed in the attached document
PLEASE NOTE that from 1 September 2024:
HRCH will provide Children and Young People Immunisations for all South London boroughs and Vaccination UK will provide Children and Young People Immunisations for all North London Boroughs. Their updated contact details will be sent to you in due course.
