RSV vaccination of older adults

Posted on:

GP practices are currently permitted to provide RSV vaccinations to those aged 80 until 31 August 2025. The SFE will be amended to extend eligibility, so GP practices may continue to vaccinate people who turned (or will turn) 80 years old from 1 September 2024 until 31 August 2026.

Authorisation of these vaccinations via the RSV Patient Group Direction (PGD) will lapse on 31 August 2025, after which practices should use a Patient Specific Direction (PSD). Payments claims should continue to be made through locally agreed processes.

The RSV vaccination offers for those aged 75-79 years and pregnant women are unaffected.
