Request for input to training being developed to support GPs in caring for armed forces, veterans, reservists and their families
I am a GP member of NHS England’s Armed Forces Clinical Reference Group and have been working with others, including RCGP, on training for GPs as below. Its aim is to help GPs and primary care staff to be more informed and effective in caring for veterans and reservists and their families.
The Armed Forces Healthcare national training and education programme are currently refining the Primary Care Armed Forces Community training module and would really value insight from Primary Care colleagues. To ensure the module is practical, relevant and aligned with the realities of frontline delivery, they are bringing together a small focus group of Primary Care representatives.
The training will be no more than half an hour and done virtually.
We are looking for primary care input to ensure the training is both relevant and appropriate for primary care. If you are interested please register for a virtual focus group to help with this and pass the invitation on to others who may be interested.
The Focus groups are being held on:
- 25 February 2026 13.00 – 1500
- 27 February 2026 11.00 – 13.00
Please register for one of these focus groups:
Armed Forces Healthcare Trg & Education – PCN Module – Focus Group 1- 25 February 2026 13.00-15.00
Armed Forces Healthcare Trg & Education – PCN Module – Focus Group 2 – 27 February 2026 11.00-13.00
The session will be an opportunity to review the draft training module, sense‑check clarity and usability, and highlight anything that would support implementation across practices and neighbourhood teams.
Please participate if you are able to.
Best wishes,
