Newham: Targeted lung health checks
Overview
Targeted Lung Health Checks (TLHC) are now being offered for Newham patients. THLCs are a free MOT of the lungs for people aged between 55-74, who have ever smoked, and are by invite only. More information for GPs is in the attached slide pack and more information for patients is on the cancer alliance website.
The whole lung health check process is being managed by InHealth. They will send out invitation letters and reminders to patients, book appointments, administer the scans and send out follow up letters. Letters will be clear with InHealth contact details for patients to phone and we also have further information on our dedicated web site, which should really reduce any direct queries to GPs.
Actions for general practice
To enable InHealth to identify patients for invitation, GP practices are required sign a data sharing agreement with InHealth. To provide you with reassurance this has been approved by the NHS London shared Services Information Governance Board and reviewed by NHS North East London ICB Data Access Group and approved by the North East London ICB Information Governance Steering Group
Uptake to signing the Data sharing agreement signatories is currently low.
Signing the various agreements will take no longer than 5 mins and can be done over the phone using a “logmein” link.
- Log on to the Data Controller Console
- Review and accept the:
- Data Sharing Agreement,
- Data Processing Agreement, and
- Data Protection Impact Assessment.
What Happens Next?
Once InHealth receive a notification from the DCC that you have accepted the documents, a member of their Customer Operations team will be in touch to organise the data export.
