Notification of the NEL Locum Cover Reimbursement Policy effective 1 January 2024

Please find attached the NEL Locum reimbursement cover policy with supporting documents which came into effect on the 1 January 2024. The Policy should be read in conjunction with the Statement of Financial Entitlements (SFE) and the NHSE Primary Medical Care Policy and Guidance Manual (PGM). 

While the local policy reflects the Directions of the SFE and the PGM, the document highlights the key requirements, processes and timescales that both practices and the Commissioner will be expected to work to.  It is important that the practice team on a whole,  is made aware of the requirements and timescales as set out in the policy as failure to comply may result in financial risk to the practice if locum cover claims not being validated.
