Moorfields Paediatric Ophthalmology – Advice & Guidance Service

The Moorfields Paediatric Ophthalmology Team now offers a dedicated Advice & Guidance (A&G) service to support primary care clinicians in managing children’s non-urgent eye conditions and improving referral pathways.
How to use the service:
Email your query to paediatric.eyeadvice@nhs.net with:
- Patient age and relevant history
- Recent vision test results (if available)
- Description of symptoms or signs
- Any supporting images or screening letters
Referral guidance to the most appropriate secondary care clinic if specialist input is required.
Benefits:
- A response within 2 working days
- Guidance on safe community management where appropriate
- Recommendations for referral to the most suitable secondary care clinic if specialist input is needed

Please note: This service is for non-urgent cases only. Acute eye emergencies should be referred directly to your local Emergency Eye Service.
