Hybrid welfare advice link worker training
Available for existing north east London Social Prescribing Link Workers
NEL are excited to announce a funded training programme to upskill existing social prescribing link workers to become hybrid welfare advice SPLWs.
This is in response to increased demand for this type of advice from our residents and links in with the London Health Board’s request for London ICSs to “endorse the principle that free social, welfare and legal advice should be available to any Londoner who needs it and ensure that London’s ICSs have plans in place for such provision”.
As a hybrid welfare advice link worker, you continue to work as a social prescribing link worker, and with the skills and knowledge of a welfare adviser, you would be able to see social prescribing clients that had welfare advice needs without the need to refer them on to a welfare advice provider.
The programme will start in September 2024. The course will take approximately 9 months, delivered by Bromley by Bow Insights and Island Advice Centre, and will require a commitment of one to two days a week throughout the period.
