For action: digital screen on meningitis
Dear colleagues,
In follow up to the message from earlier this week on meningitis please find attached a digital screen for use on all practice screens please while we manage demand and concerns driven by the outbreak. Please use this wherever possible.
In addition and as a reminder, I draw your attention to the national letter to primary care from Dr Shona Arora and Professor Claire Fuller regarding the outbreak of meningococcal disease linked to University of Kent and the area of Canterbury.
A further national letter was sent to general practice about providing MenB vaccinations upon request to a small cohort of patients who cannot access vaccination at local vaccination clinics at the University of Kent, for example, because they have returned home from campus. Providing MenB vaccinations to this cohort as of today is an essential service under the GP Contracts. The SFE will be amended to that effect retrospectively from the date of the letter.
This UKHSA article remains the most up to date public facing message on meningitis, septicaemia, who is most at risk, signs, symptoms and vaccinations.
Many thanks for your help and support.
