Exercise on Referral Service Pilots (Barking & Dagenham and Havering)

We regret to advise that the Exercise on Referral services in Barking & Dagenham and Havering boroughs are closing from April 2024.

These services were pilots focussing on patients with MSK issues that exercise would help. However, the services have found it difficult in getting appropriate referrals and have struggled with making the services viable with the right patient outcomes. We should also note that continuing to fund the services was not cost effective for the Integrated Care System in the current times.

We will continue to look at how exercise in the community can support patients as part of the MSK transformation programme and may be able identify a different model that may be more effective for our communities.
