Data security and protection toolkit for GP connect
Posted on:
Dear PCN Leads,
Thanks for your support with the E-Hub implementation stage so far.
Please note that NEL ICB are working on supporting all PCNS to be at the ‘LIVE’ implementation by end of Q1 2024/2025. To date, so far only 14 PCNS have reached this stage.
We understand that many PCNs are having difficulty in completing the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) to enable GP Connect sign on and we want to shed some light on this. It is important to note that this step in the process can be completed post ‘LIVE’ and should not disrupt all other deployment process. As such, please note the following points on the matter.
- A Digital Transformation/PCN Manager can complete this task on behalf of the PCN. To complete DSPT and sign GP Connect NDSA (if wanting to use GP Connect) use the document link below:
- Sign the National Data Sharing Arrangement – National Data Sharing Portal for GP Connect. This can be completed with the support of your Data Protection Officer or GP Practice Information Governance Lead.
- PCN to cover the following information governance activities:
- Carry out a data protection impact assessment for the implementation of EMIS hub. EMIS will provide their IG assessment documentation to support your PCN IG assessment, the EMIS documents will be published on the NEL portal (E-Hubs – North East London (icb.nhs.uk)) for you to download. Please contact your Data Protection Officer to help you with the DPIA.
- If your Federation or place/borough has a DPO, please endeavour to solicit their assistance with documentation as they are closest to the PCNs.
- There is an upcoming training session on the 23rd of May at 11am with the NEL DPO to provide support in completing the required DSPT toolkit documentation to be able to sign on into GP Connect. The details of the training will be communicated asap.
Kind Regards,
NEL Digital Team
