Blood test results affected due to sample stability due to extreme weather last week 22-26 June 2026

Posted on:

Dear Team,

Please be advised that the hot weather conditions experienced last week are continuing, and these conditions may affect the stability of certain analytes during sample transport.

This may result in falsely elevated phosphate levels and falsely low potassium levels in some samples due to temperature-related effects on sample integrity.

We have identified that samples from your surgery/ PCN  were likely affected.

If any results appear inconsistent with the clinical picture, please consider a repeat sample.

If you need to talk to someone about chemistry results -the duty biochemist number available via switchboard ( Monday to Friday- 9:00am till 5:30 pm)
