BHRUT update – closure of Queen’s Hospital car park

Posted on:

The car park at Queen’s hospital will be closed to patients and visitors for three weeks from Saturday 20 July to Saturday 10 August. It will then reopen in stages.

Independent health and safety inspectors reviewed the car park and found significant concerns. They recommended that BHRUT carry out the work or risk having to shut it permanently.

During this time, their advice is to avoid driving to the hospital if possible. Residents with blue badges, cancer patients, dialysis patients and those entitled to concessionary parking will be unaffected.

There will also be emergency parking available for women who are about to give birth. All other patients should travel by alternative means, such as using one of the eight bus routes that come into the hospital grounds.

Drop off spaces will remain available in the usual places outside the Urgent Treatment Centre, maternity and near to the main entrance.
