A Reminder of changes to the referral process for Omnes cardiology and ultrasound services

GPs are reminded that Omnes north east London (NEL) cardiology and ultrasound services have stopped receiving referrals via email since 1 November 2023. The service will only receive and accept referrals via eRS, bringing them in line with the majority of other community services in NEL. Please be advised that after 20 January 2024, all referrals that have been sent in via email will be returned to the referrer with advice to refer via eRS. 

eRS is a better system for tracking and managing referrals and is fully auditable and secure with referral and booking history available to patients and GPs. It allows patients to select and book their own appointment and their referral pathway is visible to all relevant stakeholders. The system also saves time and administrative expense for GPs using admin staff to process patients’ referrals.
