BHR Place Gastroenterology Referral Pathways – Important update

As previously communicated:

• The BHR system no longer has a Single Point of Access (SPoA) for routine gastroenterology referrals in place (Previously this was Medefer).
• All routine referrals from 1 June 2024 to Gastroenterology are subject to patient choice.
• GPs should discuss options with patients on the available providers before referral. It is important you review the offers of services as some may only be offering virtual first appointments which may not be suitable for all, and patients may have to go to different locations for diagnostics and follow up face to face appointments.

Note: BHRUT are now open to direct routine referrals where previously they were closed.

We are working with the trust and primary care clinical leads to have a standardised referral template in the upcoming weeks and will be uploaded on the system and a further comms will be shared with the template included.  Thank you for your ongoing patience and support during this process.
