Intrauterine / Subdermal implant competence

What you need to get your letter of competence in intrauterine technique/subdermal implant:

You need to be registered with a regulatory body:

  • The General Medical Council (UK)
  • Irish Medical Council
  • The Nursing & Midwifery Council (UK)
  • Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland
  • General Pharmaceutical Council (UK)
  • The Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland
  • Physician Associate Managed Voluntary Register (UK)
  • Health and Care Professions Council (UK)

Have the following:

  • Resuscitation and anaphylaxis training
  • Be competent to give intramuscular injections
  • Complete relevant e-SRH module (module 14115)
  • Pass OTA (Online Theory Assessment)
  • Register and access on FSRH website
  • Read the guidance on the FSRH website and apply through the website
  • Once you have confirmed all the above is complete we can organise your training (honorary contracts take roughly 6 weeks)

FEES

  • OTA – E80 per attempt
  • Annual membership fee of E103 per year — this makes revalidation easier and keeps upfront costs down
  • One-off Letter of Competence registration fee of El 10 (El 10 for SDI and EIIO for IUT)
