Serious Shortage Protocols for Lansoprazole 15mg orodispersible tablets and Lansoprazole 30mg orodispersible tablets

Dear colleagues

Due to supply issues, we have today issued Serious Shortage Protocols (SSP088 and SSP089) for Lansoprazole 15mg orodispersible tablets and Lansoprazole 30mg orodispersible tablets. These will be ‘restriction SSPs’ to allow pharmacists to limit supplies to one month where a patient presents with a prescription for over a months’ supply, in order to help manage the shortage.

The SSPs came into effect on Wednesday 9 September 2026 and are currently due to end on Friday 15 January 2027.

The SSPs are available to view onthe NHS Business Service Authority (BSA)’s dedicated SSP web page.
