NIHR Strategic & Wider Care Settings Funding — Call for Primary Care Ideas (North London)
The National Institute for Health and Care research (NIHR) is now accepting applications under its Strategic Funding Opportunity 2026/27 for the NIHR Research Delivery Network (RDN), with a dedicated window for the North London Regional Research Delivery Network.
If you work in general practice, community pharmacy, dental, social care or other primary- or wider-care settings in North London, this is your chance to apply for funding aimed at improving research capacity and delivery. Eligible projects could — for instance — build research infrastructure, pilot new ways to recruit and deliver studies, improve trial data collection, or strengthen collaborations between GPs, care homes, hospices, pharmacies, and other services.
Why this matters now
- The funding window is open now and closes at 1 pm, 6 January 2026 for North London.
- Projects may run 12–24 months, starting from April 2026, with funding up to regional thresholds (for single bids, up to ~£120,000).
- Proposals should align with RDN and national priorities — for example: shifting care from hospitals into the community, improving access to research in primary and wider-care settings, enhancing data quality/interoperability, and addressing under-researched areas (e.g. mental health, palliative care, stroke, asthma) in North London.
Call to Action: We want to hear from you!
If you have an idea — whether a small pilot or a broader proposal — that could help expand research in primary care or related settings in North London, please get in touch with our Senior Research and Innovation Manager (hilarious.dejesus2@nhs.net) as soon as possible. Given the tight deadline, early discussion will help shape and refine submissions.
