UKHSA Urgent Public Health Message – Mpox: Clade I mpox is no longer classed as a high consequence infectious disease (HCID) UKHSA2025/001PH

Urgent public health message to all NHS trusts, GP practices and independent healthcare providers regarding the derogation of clade I mpox from a high consequence infectious disease.   

Following advice from the Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens (ACDP) the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) from the 4 nations have agree that mpox (clade I and clade II) will no longer be managed as an HCID within healthcare settings.   

This message details the actions the NHS, independent healthcare providers and clinicians should take in response to an mpox case.
