Acute Paediatric Services (Whipps Cross Hospital Acute Paediatrics offers services to children up to 16 or younger)    
PAU -Same Day Appointment Children (16 or younger) with acute medical problems, who would normally be referred to the Emergency Department. Exclusion criteria Children who: • Require an immediate assessment • Require an ambulance • Are not haemodynamically stable • Need resuscitation or high dependency care • Are less than three months old with a history of fever  Same-day emergency care for paediatric patients via consultant-led, bookable appointments. Rapid Access outpatient appointment (seen within 5 working days)For children (16 or younger) who require an urgent outpatient reviewPlease complete the Advice and Referral Paediatrics enquiry on the ERS system. A Paediatric Consultant will review it and respond within five working days., the Consultant will confirm to the GP if either an urgent rapid access appointment or routine appointment is required or alternatively, they may just give advice.Paediatric consultant will triage the referral and an appointment (30 minutes) will be provided, Monday-Friday 9.00-10.00am, within five working days. Child Development Team- offers diagnostic management, assessment and on-going support of any child who may have a disability or developmental difficulties.    Criteria: Children 0-19 year old who live in Waltham Forest. Multi-disciplinary involvement from specialist nurses, paediatricians, therapy services, and special educational needs (SEN) early years services ensures regular assessment of the child’s needs as required.  Referrals will be accepted from parents and guardians and professionals in health, education and social care. A specialist children’s service referral form must be completed and signed consent from parent/guardian to share information must be provided.  Referrals can be emailed or posted directly to the service or made through single point of access (SPA) please ensure that sections 5 and 7-11 are completed.                Specialist Children’s Health Service Wood Street Health Centre
