Your GP practice team: a NHS North East London digital campaign

Around 1 million GP appointments are available at GP surgeries across north east London every month, with over half taking place on the same day or next day. The number of appointments our GP practices are providing has increased by over 23% since before the pandemic in 2019.

GPs themselves are seeing more patients, but the majority of this rise is in appointments is covered by other clinical professionals in practices like nurses, clinical pharmacists, physiotherapists, mental health practitioners and professionals like social prescribers who connect patients with support both in the NHS and the community.

Practice receptionists and online triage forms on practice websites play vital roles in helping people get seen by a relevant member of the team, either in person or on the phone, fast.

With general practice changing NHS North East London ICB is running a campaign online to help people understand the best ways to access help but also raise awareness of the different healthcare professionals patients will be seen by. The aim is to help tackle some potential misconceptions and hopefully change expectations and help people access care in ways that work for them, quickly.
