NHS North East London digital campaign: GP Registration

Posted on:

GP registration is fundamental to accessing NHS care in the right way. Unregistered residents are more likely to present at A&E unnecessarily, less likely to visit primary care first and can miss out on vital invitations for things like vaccinations and screening.

It is also the fundamental way we manage health and population health as an NHS.

From 1 February NHS North East London will be launching a digital campaign to encourage people who are not registered to register with their local GP. It will be targeted at areas where the most people who arrive at A&E unregistered live, people who have just moved, transient populations and lower income groups.

It will aim to improve understanding of why it is important to register with a GP as well as tackling the barriers and highlighting the ease in which you can do it online.

Important reminder

Anyone can register with a GP. People do not need a permanent address, to provide proof of address or immigration status, ID or an NHS number.

While some GP surgeries ask for supporting documentation as it can help the surgery find medical records this is not a requirement.
