BHRUT – updating patient details in practice clinical systems.

When GPs and practice staff are updating patient details and demographics, please ensure this information is entered on the practice clinical system (i.e. EMIS). 

Some of the services at BHRUT have noticed that sometimes the patients details are different on the referral letter to what is on e-RS. 

Please amend the patient’s details on your practice systems so this is reflected on the NHS SPINE.  

e-RS pulls the information from the SPINE and that should be the most up to date information.

The hospital patient administration system also uses information from SPINE. 

Unfortunately, sometimes patients do not inform reception or admin staff of their details changing but they may tell the GP when they are doing the referral then that might cause the discrepancy. 

Please ensure you are checking the basic patient demographics when you are in consultations with patients.
