Be Body Positive tool
Did you know 3 out of 4 children as young as 12 dislike their bodies and are embarrassed by the way they look? What’s more, the number of children and young people admitted to hospital with eating disorders has increased by 35% over the past year. Early intervention is absolutely key to supporting young people showing signs of disordered eating and negative body image, before a concern becomes a crisis.
Be Body Positive is an essential tool for young people, parents, carers, and professionals. Using evidence-based techniques in self-guided modules, young people can reflect on their eating behaviours and learn how to feel at ease in their bodies. Parents, carers and professionals can also learn how best to support the young people in their lives, and have access to a wealth of NHS-backed resources on topics covering normal eating, body image, fussy eating, ARFID (Avoidant-Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) and disordered eating.
This new online resource was created in partnership with ELFT, NELFT, Barnardo’s and ELBA and co-produced with young people, parents, carers and clinicians. Visit www.bebodypositive.org.uk to find out more, or email us as hello@bebodypositive.org.uk
