NHS North East London ICB Obesity Management Clinical Policy for Adults – Update

NHS North East London ICB is pleased to share the updated local clinical policy, which sets out how patients across North East London can access National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE)-approved obesity management medications through the NHS.

The policy also includes information on obesity indicators relevant to the Quality and Outcomes Framework guidance for 2026/27.

To support implementation of the updated clinical policy, the NEL ICB Medicines and Pharmacy team will be delivering a webinar for primary care colleagues on Wednesday 3rd June, 1:00–2:00pm. Questions will be welcomed during the session, and a recording and FAQ document will be shared afterwards.  Access to the webinar can be found here.

Given the evolving situation with the use of medications for weight loss, comments on the policy are welcomed and will be used to inform future updates. Please contact nelondonicb.prescribingqueries@nhs.net with comments.

Obesity management drop-in sessions will also be available for primary care colleagues to discuss clinical queries with a Barts Health Consultant Physician in Diabetes and Obesity.
