Havering Crest PCN celebrates first successful community health fair
Havering Crest PCN, with support from the ICB’s Communications and Engagement team, hosted their first community health fair aimed at bringing health and care services to local people in Havering. The event was held at the Victoria Centre in Romford at the end of July and staff from primary care and the Communications and Engagement team were on hand to welcome residents and share information about local health services.
The health fair was well attended by residents of Havering who were able to have free health checks with SuperCare Pharmacy, listen to talks by Heart Power, speak to different health and wellbeing professionals, take part in painting sessions with the Paint Wellbeing team, take part in the Big Conversation and enjoy healthy refreshments.
The event was also attended by various community partners including Henry Healthy Families, Havering One Stop Shop, Havering Local Area Coordinators, St Francis Hospice, Havering Dementia Action Alliance and the My Health Matters team from Age UK, who were all able to provide information and guidance to residents.
Keith Lilley, Chair of Havering Crest PCN, said about the event: “This was a great first opportunity to engage with the community and support people to manage their health and wellbeing needs, and also let them know about the different professionals at their GP practice who can help them. It was encouraging to see so many different organisations who provide health and wellbeing support had booked tables and provided plenty of useful information. We are planning on doing more within the borough so keep an eye out.”
