MORPh Clinical Services (MCS) – Therapy Review Service
The NEL Prescribing Efficiency Scheme (PES) aims to encourage NEL formulary adherence and promote improvements in cost-effective prescribing.
MCS are endorsed by NEL ICB to provide practices with extra workforce capacity to support with the delivery of two 25/26 Prescribing Efficiency Scheme targets:
- Blood Glucose Testing Strips
- Oral Nutritional Supplementation
and the following NEL-approved therapy reviews to improve cost-effective prescribing:
- Bone Health Review
- Buprenorphine and Oxycodone Therapy Reviews
- Emollient Therapy Review
- Glycopyronium Review
- Mucolytics Review
- Respiratory – Beclomethasone Monotherapy Review, Fluticasone/Salmeterol Review and Beclomethasone/Formoterol Review
This service is available to practices on a voluntary basis. 145 practices across NEL used MCS to help with the delivery of PES 24/25.
Work undertaken by MCS involves pharmacists accessing GP systems to review patient records on an individual basis to identify opportunities to improve prescribing and patient outcomes.
On request from NEL practices, a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) has been developed by NEL Integrated Cared Board Information Governance Team and the NEL GP Data Protection Officer. The aim of this NEL approved DPIA is to provide an assurance that the work undertaken by MCS is conducted in compliance with the data protection legislation and regulations such as UK General Data Protection Regulations and Data Protection Act 2018.
