Serious Shortage Protocol for Venlafaxine

DHSC have written to inform you that a Serious Shortage Protocol (SSP083) has been issued today for venlafaxine 37.5mg modified release tablets, which are currently in short supply.

The SSP will allow pharmacists to substitute venlafaxine 37.5mg modified release capsules

The SSP came into effect on 23 June and is currently scheduled to end on Friday 1 August 2025.

The SSP is now available to view on the NHS Business Service Authority (BSA)’s dedicated SSP web page along with supporting endorsement guidance.
