NEL Endoscopy Network, Clinical Lead – Application Pack
On behalf of NEL Diagnostics Programme Team
There is a current need for radical change in the provision of diagnostic services in NHS, and it is recognised that timely access to diagnostics is critical in providing responsive, high-quality services which impacts on elective care and cancer services. The growth rate of the population across NEL remains important and is a compelling case for change; by 2041, the NEL population is projected to grow by nearly 364,000 (18%) to 2.4m – this is equivalent to adding another borough the size of Newham to NEL meaning that we need to plan for the future demand on diagnostic services. NEL is a unique, diverse, and deprived situation and with a history of underinvestment in endoscopy assets and staff, there is a drive to address these challenges.
The NEL diagnostics team has been functioning since 2020 with a role to ensure that diagnostic services are used efficiently and effectively to enhance patient care. The key diagnostics recovery and transformation priorities for 2025-26 include:
- CDCs
- Imaging
- Pathology
- Endoscopy
- Physiological sciences
- Digital
- Workforce
- Cross-cutting themes
To support the NEL diagnostics programme, and particularly in relation to endoscopy, we are seeking to recruit a NEL Endoscopy Network Clinical Lead who will work as part of a team in delivering national, regional, and local core objectives: They will be responsible.
- To play a leadership role in developing a single vision for endoscopy services across North East London which focuses on providing high quality and equitable endoscopy services.
