FAO: GP colleagues and practices in Waltham Forest & Redbridge
Following the launch of the Women’s Health Hub in Waltham Forest & Redbridge, please be informed that all gynaecology referrals (excluding cancer and colposcopy) must now be sent to the Hub as a Single Point of Access for triaging all patients. On ERS, you will no longer find an option to refer directly for hysteroscopy. Instead, please select “Women’s Health Hub” and specify that the reason for referral is hysteroscopy.
The service is now accepting referrals for women across the boroughs in clinics have been set up to commence treatment of patients with regular weekly clinics to commence in April 2025. This new approach to managing gynaecological referrals aims to reduce waiting times for assessment and treatment and improve access to specialist hospital care. Following the development of the Women’s Hub in nearby Tower Hamlets last year, there has been a 33% reduction in the number of patients waiting for treatment and a decrease in waiting times for an appointment from 27 weeks to 11 weeks and this is the aspiration of this pilot.
A multi-disciplinary team will deliver the service in Waltham Forest, ensuring a holistic and person-centred approach to care. This team will include specialist consultants, GPs, physiotherapists, nursing staff, and support roles.
Thank you for your cooperation.
