2025/26 GP contract changes agreed

Posted on:

NHS England and the British Medical Association have agreed changes to the GP contract for 2025/26.

This includes changes to the core practice contract, the PCN DES, the SFE, QOF and enhanced services.

NHS England has stated that “the changes to the GP Contract for 2025/26 mark a major step forward in the government’s mission to shift care into the community, to focus on prevention and to move from analogue to digital. The changes also provide greater freedom to GPs by cutting red tape and empowering patients by improving digital access to practices.”

The BMA has stated that “The contract, which includes an overall funding uplift of £969m for the 2025/26 contract will be accepted provided the Government commits to a full renegotiation of the new national contract, beginning within this Parliament.”

The BMA has also announced that it has paused its collective action.

The full announcement and further details can be access on this NHS England webpage.

Full details are awaited.
