Engagement and scoping for the NEL ICB Prescribing Efficiency Scheme (PES) 2025/26

Posted on:

The NEL ICB Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation team request your input into the planning for next year’s Prescribing Efficiency Scheme (PES) 2025/26.

The PES is a key enabler for cost-effective prescribing and contributes towards the financial sustainability targets for 2025/26.

The PES for 2024/25 was very different to previous prescribing efficiency schemes. Key changes made for the 24/25 scheme included adoption of MedOptimise across NEL and the separation of the savings scheme from the quality scheme (PQS)

We have listened to the feedback received on the current scheme.  Our aim is to deliver more sustainable and long-term cost-effective prescribing improvements across NEL, which are in line with our agreed formulary. Whilst the scheme must focus on primary care prescribing, we would also like to embed longer-term harmonisation of cost-effective prescribing across the entire NEL system.

Please share your thoughts for shaping the 2025-26 PES, and any ideas to support NEL’s medicines value programme.

We have drafted a survey to help capture ideas

We also invite you to drop into our engagement sessions being held 24 January 12:30-1pm for a further opportunity to discuss your feedback
