Reforms to the Mental Health Act

The Mental Health Act has been updated to improve treatment of patients and address disparities. The proposed legislation will mean more people with a learning disability and autistic people being cared for in the community as it will not be possible to detain them using the mental health act other than for a co-occurring mental illness.
