BHRUT Acute Medical Advice Line – for circulation to BHR practices
Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce the launch of a new Medical Advice Line service at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT), designed to support primary care, community care, and mental health professionals in managing patients with acute medical conditions and have attached a poster in 2 formats for display within your offices to advertise this service.
This service
– Provides specialist advice on acute medical conditions to support management plans and decisions on best place of care
– Available to primary care, community care, and mental health agencies (where a patient has a physical health issue)
This advice line will also serve as the point of contact for all GP medical referrals for both BHRUT sites during operational hours (outside of these hours, the process currently followed for referring patients should be used)
Key Details
– Launch Date: 30th October 2024
– Operational Times: Monday to Friday, 10:00 – 18:00
– Contact Number: 01708 504307
We believe this initiative will significantly improve our ability to provide timely, appropriate care to patients while reducing unnecessary hospital attendances. We encourage you to make use of this valuable resource in your daily practice.
If you have any questions or feedback about the medical advice service, please don’t hesitate to contact me on clara.oliver@nhs.net. Alternatively, a feedback form has been developed which can accessed via the QR code below.
For advice and guidance on how best to manage frail older patients presenting in crisis, please continue to contact the dedicated Frailty Advice Line on 01708 435000 ext. 2670 where you can discuss if hospital care is the best plan for patients or get advice on where to refer them, with a view to finding alternatives to hospital admission.
Thank you for your continued dedication to providing excellent patient care.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Clara Oliver
