The NHS Violence Reduction Academy webinar: Learning from Primary Care

Posted on:

The NHS Violence Reduction Academy would like to invite you to the next webinar in our series – Learning from Primary Care. The event will showcase two innovative primary care led models working to prevent and reduce violence for young people and their families.

The Well Centre, run by Herne Hill Group Practice in Lambeth, provides holistic health and wellbeing support through 1:1 and group sessions. The practitioners support young people by setting goals and signposting to activities or local services that help with confidence, skill development and connections. They often connect young people with mentoring, sports and creative activities; while also providing advice on housing support, education and training options.

Health Spot is a GP practice embedded within Spotlight Youth Centre located in Tower Hamlets. The service offers friendly, confidential medical appointments with a GP experienced in supporting young people’s health needs and the option of additional help from youth workers and other specialists. The model aims to provide accessible, person-centred care for young people who might otherwise not engage with healthcare services.

Both models take a social prescribing approach to supporting young people impacted by violence. We look forward to sharing best practice and learning from the two services.
