Message in response to the current violence across the country
Dear colleagues,
As a health and care system in north east London we are clear that there is no place for racism and action which seeks to turn on parts of our community and stir up hatred. The deplorable violence and intimidation seen in the last few days we know will have greatly impacted our communities and colleagues. I want to particularly acknowledge the impact on our Muslim colleagues, and say very clearly that targeting you, your families and the wider community is deplorable and unacceptable.
To those of us affected we offer our support and solidarity, you are valued colleagues and members of our wider community. North east London has one of most diverse populations in England. It is this diversity that makes us unique and which we celebrate and embrace.
We are aware there may be further unrest in our area, where the council and police are aware of potential planned action, they are supporting practices, services, and communities in that area. Please remain vigilant and look out for one another. Consider making risk assessments where needed and take appropriate action, and refer to your lone working policy. Do report any incidents of abuse or violence to the appropriate authorities immediately. If for any reason you need support or have any specific concerns for your practice or staff please contact Primary Care team at nelondonicb.nel-primarycare@nhs.net
Best wishes
Zina Etheridge Marie Gabriel CBE
